Who we are
Dishboard ("we", "us", "our") is a food cost and margin calculator for restaurant owners and food businesses. Our website is dishboard.co. You can reach us through our Contact page.
What data we collect
We collect only what we need to run the service:
- Account information - your email address and password when you sign up, or your Google account details if you use Google sign-in.
- Workspace data - the recipes, ingredients, menu items, costs, and prices you enter into Dishboard. This data belongs to you.
- Contact form submissions - when you use the contact form on this site, we collect your name, email address, business type (optional), subject, and message. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry, support request, bug report, or feedback. We do not use it for marketing without your separate consent.
- Usage information - basic logs of when you sign in and use the app. We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how pages are used in aggregate. GA4 collects anonymised page views and session data; no personally identifiable information is passed to Google. You can opt out by disabling JavaScript or using a browser extension such as the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.
- Signup source - when you create an account, we record the referring website (if any), any campaign parameters (UTM tags) in the link that brought you to Dishboard, and the page you first landed on. Unlike our GA4 usage data, this is not anonymised, it is stored with your account and visible to Dishboard admins, so we can understand which channels bring in users.
- Product activity - we record which actions you take in the app (for example, signing in or costing a dish) and when, tied to your account and visible to Dishboard admins, so we can understand how often people use Dishboard and improve the parts that matter most. We only store the name of the action and a timestamp, never the content of what you entered (no prices, no recipe details).
- Admin email summary - once a day, a small summary of new signups (email address, workspace name, and how you found Dishboard, if known) is sent to a Dishboard admin by email through our email provider, Resend. This is an internal operational summary, not a marketing list, and it can be turned off entirely by the admin at any time.
- Donation information - Dishboard is free. If you choose to make a voluntary donation, it is handled by a third-party payment provider on their own platform. We never see or store your card details.
How we use your data
- To provide and operate the Dishboard service.
- To send transactional emails (account confirmation, receipts). We do not send marketing emails without your consent.
- To improve the product based on aggregated, anonymous usage patterns.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers.
Third-party services
We use trusted third-party service providers to operate Dishboard, including providers for authentication, cloud data storage, transactional email, payment processing, and hosting infrastructure. We only share the minimum data necessary for each provider to perform its function, and we do not authorise them to use your data for any other purpose.
A current list of sub-processors is available on request via our Contact page.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored on cloud infrastructure in isolated, per-user storage - no other Dishboard user can access your recipes or costs. We use HTTPS for all data in transit.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data - all your data is visible in your Dishboard workspace.
- Export your data - you can export your costing sheets as PDFs at any time.
- Delete your account - go to Account → Danger zone → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and all your workspace data from our database.
- Contact us - use our Contact page with any privacy questions or requests.
Cookies
Dishboard uses only functional cookies required for authentication (managed by Supabase). We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. We do use your browser's local storage, not a cookie, to remember the signup source described above and a few interface preferences (such as dismissing a banner); this data stays on your device except for the signup source, which is sent to us once at signup.
If you use one of our free calculators and choose "Save this recipe to Dishboard", what you entered is also kept in your browser's local storage so it is not lost when you create an account. That includes the recipe name, the ingredient names, quantities and costs, the number of servings, and the menu price if you entered one. It stays on your device and is never sent to us on its own. The next time you sign in, we ask whether you want to add it to your workspace: if you say yes it is saved to your account, and if you say no it is deleted. Either way it is removed from local storage at that point. Anything more than 30 days old is discarded without asking the next time you open the calculator or sign in, and clearing your browser data removes it immediately.
Children
Dishboard is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you by email. Continued use of Dishboard after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
